On September 4th we will see WBO Super Flyweight champion Naoya Inoue (10-0, 8) [井上 尚弥] defending his world title against Thai challenger Petchbarngborn Kokietgym (38-7-1, 18) [เพชรบางบอน ก่อเกียรติยิม].
Yesterday, as preparation for that bout, Inoue went through a 12 round sparring session, using 4 different sparring partners from the Philippines, offering not only 12 rounds of stamina testing but also different styles and time with permanently fresh partners.
The session seems to have gone really well with Inoue stating that it was good and that it has helped him prove his stamina, the one thing that has been questioned at times about about the youngster. It also proved that the hands were in solid condition and not suffering the after effects of the May bout against David Carmona, where fans had had serious worries.
Although the spar went well Inoue did see that there was issues and some sources have suggested that he showed a slight lack of concentration at times during the spar. They were however few and far between with them seemingly coming more from being too relaxed in the ring rather than something too major or troublesome.
