On August 13th fight fans in Saitama get the chance to see a pair of female world title fights. The most notable of those sees IBF female Light Flyweight champion Naoko Shibata (15-3-1, 4) [柴田 直子] defending her title in a rematch with Mexican foe Maria Salinas (11-4-3, 4), with the two women having fought to a draw last year.
Today it was revealed that Shibata is preparing for Salinas by sparring with WBC Atomweight champion Momo Koseki (21-2-1, 7) [小関 桃] in what looks likely to have been a really high quality spar between two women are both fighting fit and looking forward to be in the ring, with Koseki also booked for the August 13th card.
It seems the sparring has brought the best out of both fighters with talking positively of the session and both seemingly coming out of the session hungry to score wins in 10 days time.
For Koseki her upcoming bout will be a non-title affair with the legendary fighter looking to stay busy before facing her next challenger. For Shibata however the bout will be her 5th defense of the title and could lead her to unification bouts in the near future.
