In the space of just 10 months Muhammad Waseem (4-0, 3) has gone from being an amateur fighter to a man holding a WBC Silver title and after just 4 fights many have began tipping him to become the first Pakistan born world champion, and the first champion to box out of Korea in over a decade. His rise has been amazing and more tellingly he has substance as well as everything else. He's not been matched easily to get into the world rankings but instead has set about making a statement from his debut, a Korean Bantamweight title bout, to his last fight, a contest with former world title challenger Jether Oliva.
His tough run looks set to continue in November with promotional outfit AK Promotions, the Korean promotional team behind Waseem, announcing on facebook that their man would return to defend his title against Filipino Giemel Magramo (17-0, 13).
The facebook post states the bout has been made for November 27th at the Hilton Hotel, in Seoul, and will be televised on SBS Sports in Korea.
The bout will be Waseem's first defense of the WBC Silver Flyweight title, a title he won back in July when he defeat Jether Oliova with a 12 round decision, in a bout that can be seen below and could potentially see him climb up the WBC rankings as well as move into the IBF rankings, with the IBF having Magramo in their top 15.
For the 21 year old Magramo the bout is a big step up in class, however he has looked excellent himself, albeit at a much lower level. His best wins are victories over Renz Rosia and Rolio Golez and although he isn't as proven as Waseem, a former amateur standout before turning professional, he will certainly have no fear coming in to this bout.
At the moment we have no details in regards to the under-card but we suspect the under-card will be revealed in the coming weeks.
