Yesterday we reported that Thai boxer Saenmuangloei Kokietgym (19-5-2, 3) had been arrested for smuggling, today saw us receive more details on the arrest.
Firstly the fighter wasn't smuggling drugs, it was something we believed was the case originally though thankfully it's turned out not to be true. Instead he was arrested for smuggling timber which was undocumented. It's assumed that this timber may have been illegally cut from the local national park or imported from neighbouring Laos.
Although Saenmuangloei has claimed he was unaware of what was in the trunk, and has been freed on bail pending a trial that is expected to begin on Juy, he has also declared that his boxing career is over with immediate effect.
