Earlier this week we reported that Japanese 140lb puncher Keita Obara (15-1, 14) would be making his US debut on November 7th in a fight against Nicaraguan fighter Walter Castillo(26-3, 19). Today that bout was officially announced in Japan as Misako gym, the gym that promotes Obara, held a press conference in Tokyo.
From what we understand Obara was said to have been "happy" to have got the opportunity to fight in such a high profile bout and will use his previous US experience, which consisted of a 2 week training came in LA in June, as the basis for his preparation this bout.
Obara also said that he had seen some of Castillo and was creating a gameplan to try and defeat the tough Nicaraguan, who has never been stopped. He did also seem to hint that he'd love to leave his name in the minds of the American fans, who have likely never heard of the heavy handed slugger.
