From what we understand Filipino "Hammer Fist" Michael Farenas (39-4-4, 31) will have to wait for his shot at the IBF Super Featherweight title despite recently scoring a win in an eliminator against the previously unbeaten Mark Davis.
Farenas, the IBF's #2 ranked fighter, has been told that he needs to fight the next highest ranked fighter for his opportunity to become the mandatory challenger. The next available highest ranked contender is Argentinian veteran Fernando David Saucedo (52-5-3, 8) who is one of the most experienced men out there.
Unfortunately for the 32 year Saucedo he has lost in his most notable fights, including a loss to Chris John in 2010, a loss to Acelino Freitas in 2004 and a loss to Nedal Hussein, also in 2004.
Although the details regarding when and where the Farenas/Saucedo bout will take place are yet to be confirmed we have been informed that Farenas's camp are going to make a determined effort to get get their man home advantage and get the bout made before the end of this year. If that happens it would likely secure the winner their title bout for early next year.
