At the Korakuen Hall on Monday Japanese fans had the chance to see 4 Japanese title eliminators. The lowest of the weights covered by those bouts, which were the "Strong Korakuen" bouts, came at Flyweight and saw former world title challenger Masayuki Kuroda (24-6-3, 14) battle against Yusuke Sakashita (15-6-2, 8) in a thrilling bout, that was the most competitive match up on the card.
The fight saw Kuroda, a former Japanese Light Flyweight champion, take control early on with his movement and excellent hook. In the second half of the bout however the fight turned with Sakashita turning on the offense and really making life difficult for Kuroda. For Sakashita the bout became a race against time and unfortunately for him the rounds round out just before he could over-come his slow start.
The competitive nature of the contest, which was thrilling through out, was shown on the cards which were 78-74 and 77-76, twice, in favour of Kuroda who will now find himself facing either Takuya Kogawa or Tetsuma Hayashi, who battle later this week in a Japanese title fight.
