Over the weekend it was revealed that there was an intriguing sparring session in the US.
That session saw OPBF Lightweight champion Masayoshi Nakatani (11-0, 6) [中谷 正義] share the ring with former OPBF Super Featherweight champion Masao Nakamura (21-3, 20) [仲村 正男].
The two men appear to have shared an enjoyable session together though though it's clear there was more to it than just enjoying a fun spar, in fact both men have fights set up, in fact both will be in action on April 17th at the EDION Arena Osaka.
For Nakatani the upcoming bout sees him defending his OPBF title against the big punching Tosho Makoto Aoki (20-13-2, 17) [闘将青木誠]. The bout is viewed as a mismatch but Nakatani is taking his preparations seriously and training with Nakamura will help him prepare for the power and strength of Aoki, a crude but very strong fighter.
Nakamura's bout is less notable, but he'll have used the spar to sharpen his skills and help prepare, not just for the April 17th bout but also for future bouts, which are likely to include either an OPBF or a Japanese title fight before the year is over.
