Under-the-radar Filipino youngster Mark Anthony Geraldo (29-4-3, 13) has been the opportunity of a life time for this Saturday night as he's been added to the Manny Pacquiao v Timothy Bradley II undercard.
Geraldo is one of the most over-looked Filipino fighters out there. Despite notable wins over Hirofumi Mukai and Jerwin Ancajas many haven't really taken notice of the 22 year old southpaw from Bukidnon. We however love the kid and his genuine ambitious attitude.
It's that attitude that has seen Geraldo pushing Oleydong Sithsamerchai close in Thailand, giving Arthur Villanueva a tough, and controversial, bout in Villanueva's home of Bacolod City, Negros Occidental, and also seen him ice Mukai in Osaka city.
His addition to this card sees him in another difficult bout as he battles Mexican puncher Raul Hidalgo (21-10, 16). For many Asian fight fans their knowledge of Hidalgo may only extend to his embarrassing blow out losses to Daiki Kameda and AJ Banal though he can be a handful as he proved against Ivan Morales losing a hard fought decision.
We expect Geraldo to win though hopefully it won't be a matter of winning or losses but instead a matter of impressing fans who will, in many cases, be getting their first chance to watch "El Heneral".
