Earlier today fans in Saitama saw a world title double-header. On the same card they saw a world champion take part in a stay busy bout, and show her class in a one-sided blow out in a bout that really had little purpose.
The bout in question saw the indomitable Momo Koseki (22-2-1, 8) [小関 桃] blow away Thailand's Ploynapa Sakrungrueng (13-8-1, 1) in just 105 seconds. The bout saw Koseki dip her toes at Light Flyweight, after 16 successive defenses of the WBC Atomweight title. She applied the pressure from the off, landed a sharp one two and then went to the body forcing Ploynapa to the canvas, where she remained for the full 10 count.
The bout little real purpose but it was Koseki's first bout since last October, when she unified the WBA and WBC titles, and it seems likely that she will be in more serious competition later this year, when she plans to defend her WBC title for the 17th time. For Ploynapa this was a third stoppage loss in 4 bouts, including a defeat last September to Eun Hye Lee in a WBO Light Flyweight world title bout.
