Japan's former world champion Kohei Kono (29-8, 12) has again reiterated his intention to fight fellow Japanese fighter Koki Kameda if, Kono can win the WBA Super Flyweight title in his up coming fighter.
Kono, who fights Thailand's Denkaosan Kaovichit (62-3-1, 26) on March 26th has said that he is completely focused on beating the Thai next week though the intention is clearly to fight Kameda if Kono can come away with the title.
The Japanese fighter has been in fine form in public workouts this week and appears to have really stepped up his training ahead of this bout as if he knows he needs to win to get a big money and high profile clash with Kameda. A loss on the other hand could well end his career and although he's had a solid career overall, winning Japanese, OPBF and WBA titles, he will likely feel that he should have done more, especially considering this fantastic opportunity he has here.
