On March 18th 2016 Japanese fight fans got a real treat as Takuya Kogawa (28-4, 14) [粉川 拓也] defended the Japanese Flyweight title in an action war with former world title challenger Masayuki Kuroda (26-7-3, 15) [黒田 雅之].
Since their first bout we've seen the two men continue to compete at the highest level of the Japanese domestic scene. That saw Kogawa defending the national title in July and October last year, recording his third and 4 defenses of his current reign. That October defense did however take it's toll on him and he suffered an injury that has kept him out of since.
Due to Kogawa's inujury he was unable to compete in the Champion's Carnival and as a result Kuroda battled Yuta Matsuo for the "inteirm" title in February, in what was another thrilling fight.
Today it's been announced that Kogawa and Kuroda will fight to unify the Japanese "regular" and "interim" titles, with that bout now set to take place on June 13th as the headline bout for Dangan 185.
Given their styles, and their first bout, we're expecting to see a thrilling contest and one that will be featured on the brilliant Boxingraise.com.
As well as the main event we also know that the card will feature Kaiki Yuba (1-0, 1) [湯場 海樹], though details on his bout are yet to be confirmed.
