Tomorrow Japanese fans at the Korakuen Hall get a treat with a Dangan show featuring two Japanese title bouts. One of those bouts is a brilliant Japanese Flyweight title bout between reigning champion Takuya Kogawa (25-4, 13) [粉川 拓也] and mandatory challenger Masayuki Kuroda (24-6-3, 14) [黒田 雅之].
Today the two men took part in their weigh in and both weight in at 50.7KG's, around 111¾lbs, well within the divisional limit.
For Kogawa the weight was what was expected of him and actually comes between the two weights of his last two bouts. He is slightly heavier than when he won the title, last July against Hiroki Saito, but slightly lighter than he was in his first defense, against Tetsuma Hayashi last November.
As for Kuroda the weight is his lightest recorded weight in over 3 years, when he fought the then WBA Flyweight champion Juan Carlos Reveco in February 2013.
As fans of the two men will know, this is going to be a cracker with a lot of action and plenty of trading. For Kogawa the bout is viewed as the next step towards another world title fight whilst Kuroda has stated that he has gone back to basics and will be hoping to have a better performance than we've seen of him recently.
