Today it was announced that touted Light Flyweight prospect Ken Shiro (3-0, 2) will return to the ring on August 10th as he continues his march up the Japanese domestic rankings.
Ranked #6 by the JBC Ken Shiro is moving, rather quickly, to a Japanese title fight. His climb through the rankings was helped by his previous bout, a sensational victory over the previously undefeated Katsunori Nagamine, and we suspect a win in August could put him a single fight away from a national title fight.
As for his upcoming bout Ken Shiro's been matched with #7 ranked JBC Light Flyweight Takashi Omae (13-4-5, 1). Although Omae's a light puncher he has mixed with good company and has been in with Yuki Sano-twice, Atsushi Kakutani and Myung Ho Lee. It's also worth noting that Omae is 6-1-3 in his last 10 bouts, suggesting he is better than his over-all record indicates.
This bout is set to to take place at the Korakuen Hall though other details regarding the card have yet to be announced.
