Tomorrow Japanese fans in Tokyo get the chance to see a number of interesting bouts, including two title bouts. As well as the title bouts the card also features some notable non-title fights, one of which sees IBF Light Welterweight mandatory challenger Keita Obara (15-1-1, 14) [小原 佳太] fight in a "world title prelude" against Thai novice Petchdam Tor Buamas (0-1).
The bout is essentially a stay busy bout for Obara, though the heavy handed fighter has taken the contest seriously and looked in brilliant shape, as always. Sadly the same cannot be said of the Thai who looked bloated and appeared very short at the weight.
If, as we all assume, Obara gets the win the intention is to challenge IBF world champion Eduard Troyanovsky (24-0, 21). That bout is being eyed for the summer and would see two heavy handed fighters trade blows in what will be an excellent bout, give Obara his first world title fight and be Troyanovsky's second defense, following a convincing recent win over former champion Cesar Rene Cuenca.
