Tomorrow at the EDION Arena Osaka fans will get a treat with 4 title bouts all on the same show. The most over-looked of those title bouts will see OPBF female Light Flyweight champion Kei Takenaka (9-0, 3) defending her title against Thailand's Krikanok Islandmuaythai (4-4-1, 2)
There are numerous reasons why this bout has been overlooked. Firstly it's a female bout, which tends to get less attention anyway, and secondly it looks like a mismatch on paper.
Despite those issues the champion does sound confident and appeared to suggest that she was going to look to stop Krikanok in the first half of the bout.
That statement was made at the weight in today which saw Takenaka come in on the limit whist the Thai was just 106¼lbs, well inside the divisional limit.
It seems likely that if Takenaka can score an early stoppage of her Thai foe then she will begin to eye world title fights, possibly with IBF champion Naoko Shibata in 2016.
