Over the weekend it was announced that former amateur standout Kazuki Nakajima (0-0) [中嶋一輝] had linked up with the Ohashi gym, with whom he is now set to turn professional with, becoming yet another sensational talent to join the gym.
Although a relative unknown outside of Japan Nakajima was a top amateur who scored more than 60 wins and had heavy hands, stopping 30 opponents. That amateur experience saw compete both at the top level domestically, where he ran into Arashi Morisaka in the 2015 National Champion, and at international level, fighting in a International Invitational Tournament in 2013.
Originally Nakajima had intended to stay amateur a bit longer, but it seems that he now feels the timing is right to turn professional and link up with a gym that is really having a great year and look to be developing a number of top former amateur standouts, like the Inoue trio, Ryo Matsumoto and Satoshi Shimizu.
Nakajima is expected to take part in his pro-test bout later in spring and could debut in soon afterwards, leaving some speculation that he may debut as soon as May!
