Earlier today it was announced that popular Japanese warrior Katsunari Takayama (30-8-0-1, 12) would be continuing his career as an active fighter, after having a prolonged break from the ring and from the gym.
The always fun to watch "Lightning Kid" had been away from boxing since he lost his titles, in December suffering a technical decision loss to Jose Argumedo, with some rumours suggesting he was set to retire from the sport.
Having been out of the gym for a prolonged time it's clear that Takayama isn't fighting fit and it's thought that his next bout will not until the summer. That however will be a wait worth having with Takayama always proving great action and in fairness to him he has needed time to rest his body after having had so many wars in recent years.
From what we understand he will be returning at 105lbs, probably in a.world title bout, though there is a chance that he could move up in weight if an opportunity of interest heads his way.
