Unbeaten Kazakh contender Kanat Islam (27-0, 21) [Ислам Канат] hasn't been seen in the ring since October 2019, when he defeated Walter Kautondokwa. Now however he appears to have a date for a ring return.
According to Boxrec the unbeaten Kazakh is pencilled in to fight on February 20th at the Doubletree Miamimart Hotel, in Miami on a show being put together by Nelson Lopez Jr. Sadly however no opponent is named for Islam.
The 36 year old Kazakh was once on the verge of a world title fight, but inactivity and injuries, including a reported broken arm against Kautondokwa, have killed all the momentum his career once had. As a result he has gone from being on the verge of something big to becoming an old man, with a battered and broken body.
Although a talented fighter, in his prime, he has only fought twice since the start of 2018 and his career is pretty much hanging by a thread.
Interestingly this card has also been linked to potentially hosting a fight featuring Kazakh Heavyweight hopeful Ivan Dychko (9-0, 9) [Дычко Иван], though nothing has been confirmed in regards to Dychko's involvement.
