Earlier today saw a press conference being held, featuring Kaminoko Okamura Kentokid (5-1-3, 2) [香美の子 岡村ケントキッド] who announced that his boxing career was well and truly over, despite being only 26, and that his focus now was on his next career.
The former fighter debuted in March 2013 and fought until September 2015, when he suffered an opening round defeat to Seigo Yuri Akui.
Originally he had wanted to be a fireman but from what we understand he failed tests to become a firefighter and will instead begin schooling to become a police officer, with that schooling to begin in October.
Kaminoko's decision to retire was made as a snap decision following his first loss, though he has trained since being beaten and at today's press conference he seemed to suggest that he would return to boxing in the future. How would however focus firstly on passing the police school training and then, down the line, return to the fight.
We'd like to wish Kaminoko the best in his upcoming police studies and genuinely do hope to see him make a successful return to boxing, when he feels ready to make the return.
