Back in April we, boxing fans, got an absolute treat when Japan's all action Yoshihiro Kamegai (26-3-2, 23) [亀海喜寛] and Mexican veteran Jesus Soto Karass (28-10-4, 18) put on a FOTY contender resulting in split decision draw and fans raving about the contest, which really was something a bit special.
Over the 48 hours or so we're heard growing murmurs that the two men are set to go at each other again with a tentative September 17th date date being lined up, with the bout likely to fall on the under-card of the Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (47-1-1, 33) vs Liam Smith (23-0-1, 13) bout, at the MGM Grand.
Although the bout hasn't yet been confirmed for the card there is thought that may be part of the PPV broadcast with the bout guaranteed to bring fireworks and excitement. It may not be a big name, world title affair like the main event, but Canelo's star power will be the drawing factor for many fans, whilst the Kamegai Vs Soto Karass rematch will be an easy to make and relatively cheap under-card bout that will give fans bang for their buck.
We'd expect this bout to be confirmed shortly and we could well end up seeing September being a month to remember with a host of other brilliant bouts all looking like they will be announced for various dates throughout the month.
For those who missed the first bout, we've included it below, and let us just tell you it is something very special. The skill level might not have been the highest but the action is intense and brilliant throughout.
