Over the past few days BoxingM have announced that 2-weight Korean champion Joo Hyun Jung (7-3-1, 2) [정주현] will return to the ring on February 22nd to face Filipino Jeronil Borres (7-1-1, 5) in a genuinely intriguing bout for the WBC EPBC Flyweight title.
The Korean fighter, who has won Korean titles at both Flyweight and Bantamweight, will be dropping from Bantamweight back to Flyweight for this bout though it seems likely that that won't be a big issue for the 23 year old. Although relatively unknown Jung began his career back in 2010 and has mixed with good company, including a 2014 bout with former world champion Malcolm Tunacao, who he was surprisingly competitive with. His career has, like many Korean's, been stop-start but it would appear that BoxingM have potentially got the money to keep him busy and give his career some consistency.
Borres is another relatively unknown fighter but the 21 year old fought very competitively with Richard Claveras back in September and looks like a fighter with some potential. This will be his first bout outside of the Philippines and should be a chance for him to shine, and potentially win an international title.
As well as the main event the card will feature two other title bouts, a Boxing M Korean Bantamweight title fight and a Boxing M female Minimumweight title fight. Those bouts, along with the main event, are set to be aired on SBS Sports, though it's unclear at the moment whether the card will be aired live or on delay.
