Next week fans in Japan will see Panama's Jezreel Corrales (19-1-0-1, 7), the current WBA "interim" Super Featherweight champion, battle with Japanese star and current WBA Super Featherweight "super" champion Takashi Uchiyama's (24-0-1, 20) [内山 高志].
Today a lot the Japanese boxing press got their first chance to see Corrales in the flesh with Corrales taking part in a public work out at the Watanabe gym in Tokyo.
The fighter mentioned that his conditioning was excellent and he was highly motivated for this bout. Whilst his confidence of winning was no surprise his overall character did seem to surprise some with the fighter being very funny outside of the ring and amazingly relaxed with a smile on his face as he spoke to the press.
As for the actual work out Corrales impressed with his athletic ability which included very good reactions and quick hands. It's fair to say that Uchiyama's team would have been aware of Corrales speed, but he did look exceptionally quick today and very much like a fighter who travelled to shock the boxing world.
