Earlier today saw the Japanese boxing awards for May being issued, despite the fact the month has been relatively quiet on the Japanese boxing scene.
The Fighting Spirit award went to Kengo Nagashima for his thrilling fight with Shusaku Fujinaka on May 28th. The fight was one of the best fights in Japan this year with both men trying to behead the other in a genuine thriller that could well end the year as one of the best in a Japanese ring.
From what we understand the "State of the Art" award was given to 18 year old Kenya Noguchi who had a very impressive debut when he out pointed Hideharu Takahashi on May 3rd.
Due to the lack of action through the month there was no MVP.
