It's fair to say that our attention on New Year's Eve was on Japan where we had 5 world title fights, an OPBF title fight and a Japanese title fight. There was however one notable bout taking place else where.
That bout saw the really talented and exciting Iwan Zoda (8-1, 7) end the year with a destructive win against Thailand's aggressive Phupha Por Nobnom (11-10-1, 10).
The Thai started fast but couldn't really worry the fast rising Indonesian local who took control and forced a third round stoppage of the Thai, who was down 3 times.
The bout, which was partially captured on film, was a perfect way to end the year for Zoda who is expected back in the ring on April 4th in what is hoped to be a step up bout for the youngster.
