Yesterday Japanese boxing saw the announcement of a Japanese Super Bantamweight tight fight and we now know that champion Yasutaka Ishimoto (29-8, 8) [石本 康隆] will face the heavy handed Yusaku Kuga (13-2-1, 9) [久我 勇作] on February 4th.
The bout, a rematch of their December 21st bout from last year, is expected to be a genuine thriller, like their first one was.
When the two men first fought Ishimoto took the spoils, to claim the title, taking a razor thin decision over Kuga. Since then Ishimoto has defended the title twice, scoring really fun to watch victories over Yosuke Fujihara and Gakuya Furuhashi, to secure his position as the leading man on the Japanese domestic scene.
Since losing to Ishitimoto we've seen Kuga score back-to-back stoppages over Sukkasem Kietyongyuth and Jonathan Baat, with the win over Baat securing Kuga a rematch with Ishimoto.
The bout should, we believe, be shown on G+ though have yet to see that being confirmed.
