This past weekend Korean fans saw local star Hyun Mi Choi (13-0-1, 4) [최현미] continue her unbeaten run as she added the WBF female Super Featherweight title to her collection of titles, which included WBA crowns at both 126 and 130lbs.
The Korean, originally from Pyongyang though now based in the South, was the star attraction of a KBA show and successfully over-came South African fighter Unathi Myekeni (10-3-1, 4), who proved her toughness but was out boxed by the Korean.
The bout, which was aired on Korean TV, saw Choi claim a clear decision win with cards of 100-91, 99-92 and 98-93.
Interestingly the bout was originally advertised as a WBA title bout but it appears that only the WBF title, which was previously vacant, was on the line.
