Tomorrow fans in Australia will see two Japanese fighters taking on locals. One of those bouts, arguably the more attractive match up, will see teak tough Japanese visitor Hurricane Futa (20-6-1, 11) [ハリケーン風太] battle against exciting local fighter Will Tomlinson (25-2-1, 13) for the "interim" WBA Oceania Lightweight title.
The weigh in for that bout happened earlier today and both fighters made weight, with some room to spare, weighing in at 134.7lbs for the bout.
For Futa the weight the weight is the highest of his career, and is more than 2lbs heavier than his heaviest recorded weight, which was for last year's bout with Can Xu. Surprisingly he began his career way down at Super Flyweight but has grown gradually since he debuted as a 17 year old back in 2004.
As for Tomlinson he's come in at his typical weight and a weight that he has fought his last two bouts at, incidentally both very close wins over Hero Tito and Adones Aguelo, in what was a hugely controversial result.
