Today fight fans at the Korakuen Hall had their first chance to attend an "A-sign Bee" card. One of the three notable bouts on that card saw former world title challenger Hisashi Amagasa (32-6-2, 20) [天笠 尚] battle with veteran Kinshiro Usui (27-5, 11) [臼井 欽士郎] in a bout that looked brilliant on paper, and proved to be ultra-competitive in the ring with neither man turning up to lose.
Earl in the bout Usui looked to get inside and negate the reach of Amagasa, who towered over his foe. Up close it was Usui who was having notable success but things changed in round 3 when Amagasa started to take the fight to Usui, but counters from the older man made life difficult for Amagasa who took until round 4 to really get into his flow.
Having get into his groove Amagasa also took round 5, taking a knockdown during the round, though that seemed to just spur on Usui who dug in his toes and took part in thrilling finish with 3 rounds of great back and forth action.
Sadly for the 37 year old Usui his hard work wasn't enough for the judges with two of them scoring the bout to Amagasa, withscores of 77-76 and 77-74, whilst the third judge had the bout level at 76-76, giving Amagasa the narrow Majority decision victory.
