Hernandez confident of taking belt back to Mexico, Higa hopes to catch the Mexican
Over this coming weekend fans in Japan will see WBC Flyweight title champion Juan Hernandez Navarrete (34-2, 25) battle against heavy handed Japanese youngster Daigo Higa (12-0, 12) [比嘉 大吾], in a mouth watering clash of talented boxer-puncher and pure pressure.
Today the two men took part in a press conference and signing ceremomy for the bout, ahead of Saturday's clash. And as one would expect both sounded confident, honest and even a little bit blunt.
The champion stated that he would be boxing smart, that he was aware of Higa's style and KO run and that will be taking the title back to Mexico following the bout. It wasa simple claim, yet a very succint one and it's clear he hasn't travelled with the intent of just handing his belt over to Higa.
As for Higa he made it clear that to become the champion he will have to make sure to catch Hernandez, but it was obvious that fancies his chances of doing just that. He thanked his manager Yoko Gushiken for the opportunoty and it's clear he's looking to make the most of first world title challenge.
