Just a few short hours ago Japanese fighter Go Odaira (13-5-3, 1) [大平 剛] left Japan, as he set off for Thailand where he will be fighting on March 1st in a WBA Minimumweight title fight against Knockout CP Freshmart (14-0, 6) [น็อคเอาท์ ซีพีเฟรชมาร์ท].
Earlier in the day Odaira took part in a public work out, sparring 5 rounds, before getting on the plane for the fight, his third world title bout and his third bout in Thailand.
Having lost in two previous bouts at world level Odaira has put extra work into his style ahead of this bout, and has been working hard on using his straight shots, something that he has under-utilised through his career so far. He has also stated that he has some special weapons to use in Thailand, including new medical equipment to help him make with his training and fitness. Although the equipment is pricey his team seem to view it as a key to helping their man finally become a world champion.
Also worth noting is that Odaira won't need to travel as far for this bout whilst in Thailand as he has in the past. It seems that he and his team have done all they can to help him prepare for the contest, despite the fact it was announced on very late notice, having only been announced earlier this month.
