Earlier today Japanese fans in Gifu had the chance to see rising local prospect Genki Hanai (7-0, 5) [華井 玄樹] battle against Thailand's Poomsak Saknarong (0-1-1), who lasted less than a round with the unbeaten Japanese fighter.
Hanai, who took the bout as a tune up ahead of a Japanese title fight, needed just seconds to land a devastating body shot on Poomsak who crumpled to the canvas where he was counted out. In total the bout lasted just 32 seconds, giving Hanai less of a tune up and more of an exhibition outing, with the exciting fighter hardly breaking a sweat.
The bout was the main event of the show, and although it was short it did serve a purpose, giving Hanai a few moments in the ring and giving local fans a chance to see him in what was really a straight forward showing.
For Poomsak the bout was one that he'll be hoping to forget in a hurry, it was a terrible effort, a nasty shot that finished him off and did little to make fans want to see him again. In fact we'd not be shocked if he was added to the JBC's banned boxer's list.
For those interested the key under-card bout saw Reiko Sugiyama (8-6-3, 6) [杉山 令耕] score a 4th round TKO win against Shohei Fujimoto (9-7-3, 8) [藤本 翔平].
