Around a week ago we reported the news that Filipino puncher Froilan "The Sniper" Saludar (21-1-1, 13) had agreed to fight the brilliant Juan Francisco Estrada (31-2, 22) in a bout for the WBA "super" and WBO Flyweight titles on March 28th. Sadly however it appears that that bout is no more.
Our sources have informed us that Saludar's team have turned the offer down given the late notice of the bout and suggested that Saludar wouldn't be ready to compete against someone like Estrada until May, at the earliest.
Sadly for Saludar he's not unlikely to get a call back in May with Estrada likely to have other commitments around then. It's known that Roman Gonzalez does a rematch with the champion and with both the WBA and WBO titles around his waist the Mexican is likely to have a mandatory due sooner rather than later. It's also very unlikely that Estrada will be cancelling his scheduled contest, however no replacement opponent has been named as of yet.
