The boxing continued to roll on yesterday evening with some impressive performances at the Olympics.
At 56 KG's we saw the very impressive Erdenbaat Tsendbaatar continue a good competition for the Mongolian team as he easily beat Kenya Benson Gicharu. Gicharu was very lucky not to have a count against him, after being knocked down hard but it thankfully didn't matter as the Mongolian took the bout on all 3 cards to progress to the next round.
Asian's did well as 64KG's with two fighters making it through in the late session. The first of those was Uzbek Fazliddin Gaibnazarov, who scored a TKO win over Congolese fighter Dival Malonga whilst Indian Manoj Kumar joined him courtesy of a split decision win over the very exciting Evaldas Petrauskas, in what was a minor upset.
The first division to begin the quarter finals was the 49KG division and we now know that Uzbek fighter Khasanbay Dusmatov is guaranteed a medal after he beat Kazakh Birzhan Zhakipov with a unanimous decision. He'll now face American Nico Hernandez in the semi-final.
Another fighter who booked himself a medal was exciting Heavyweight Vasiliy Levit of Kazakhstan, as he easily beat James Kennedy St Pierre from Mauritius. Unfortunately for Levit he will have to get past Cuban Erislandy Savon if he's to progress to the final
