It seems this coming weekend will be a big one for Korea boxing.
On Saturday we will see Korean based Pakistani fighter Muhammed Waseem (1-0, 1) in action in Thailand whilst the following day fans will get the chance to see a pair of shows, both under the auspice of the KBA, in Korea.
One of those shows is set to be aired on MBC Sports + and will be headlined by the rough and tumble Dan Bi Kim (11-3-1, 4)* facing off against Thailand's Nonggift Onesongchaigym (7-4-2, 1) in a bout for the WBF Inter-Continental female Light Flyweight title.
Kim, who has several "un-recorded bouts" including a technical draw against Su Yun Hong, is a rough and tumble fighter who has fought several notable fighters. Whilst her bout against Hong wasn't seen outside of Korea she did, in 2014, fight Susi Kentikian in a world title fight in Germany. That bout against Kentikian was a high profile bout, and although Kim lost, and was never really competitive, she did show her heart and toughness before being stopped.
As for Nonggift the Thai isn't isn't really a fighter in form. She has won just 1 of her last 5 bouts, and has actually lost her last two bouts by stoppage, including a defeat to Hee unh Yuh on an AK Promotions show in Thailand. She debuted in 2011 and did go through a good run in 2012-2014, where she went 6-0-1 (1) though has struggled since with losses to the likes of Yuh and the talented Eva Voraberger. We suspect she will suffer another loss here against the very rough Kim.
