Former 2-weight world champion Daiki Kameda (29-5, 18) made his ring return today after more than 21 months out of the ring. Unfortunately however his comeback was an unsuccessful one for the former WBA Flyweight and IBF Super Flyweight champion who suffered the most humbling defeat of his career so far, just moments after his younger brother, Tomoki Kameda, suffered his second successive defeat at the hands of Jamie McDonnell.
Daiki, who last fought in December 2013 losing a decision to Liborio Solis, was supposed to pick up an easy win over the limited Victor Ruiz (20-5, 14) though instead he came up short, dropping an 8 round decision to the unheralded Mexican.
The Japanese fighter, who, along with his brothers, had been banned from fighting in Japan by the JBC was making his US debut and was supposed to pick up a very easy win before stepping up his level of competition. Today's result however leaves him in a tricky position with serious questions as to whether or not he'll continue or wave good bye to the sport.
