One of the most interesting of tomorrow's 5 world title is the WBA Super Featherweight "super" title fight between reigning champion Jezreel Corrales (20-1-0-1, 8) and former champion Takashi Uchiyama (24-1-1, 20) [内山 高志]. Originally the betting odds for this bout were the most interesting of any of the year ending world title bouts and over the last few days that interest really has grabbed fans and drew in the cash.
When the bout was first announce Uchiyama was the betting favourite, albeit a slim favourite, with the bookies predicting a revenge win for Uchiyama originally. Today however the Japanese fighter is the under-dog and an Uchiyama win is best priced at 13/8, with many bookies pricing him at a similar 6/4. The fact Uchiyama, who was the clear betting favourite going into the first, has gone from favourite to under-dog in the betting for this bout shows just how little belief there is in the 37 year old KO Dynamite.
The belief is, of course, with Corrales who blitzed Uchiyama in 2 rounds earlier this year. That belief has forced Corrales' price to drop to 3/5, and many having him at 1/2. Although slim it does look like a great return given how easily he dealt with Uchiyama back in April.
For those perhaps interested in a shock draw the price of that is 33/1!
Like many bouts taking place in Japan there is one alternative market, the over/under market. The spread here has been set at 8.5 with one bookie pricing the under at 19/17 and the over at 11/14, meaning the under is incredibly good looking given how easily Corrales beat Uchiyama earlier this year, and the fact Uchiyama is now 37 and won't be any quicker than he was in the first bout with Corrales.
