On March 2nd we'll see WBC Bantamweight champion Shinsuke Yamanaka (26-0-2, 18) [山中慎介] battle against Mexican challenger Carlos Carlson (22-1, 13). Today, ahead of their bout, Carlson took part in a public work out and spent time
Carlson stated that he was in good condition, though did seem to admit that the shift in time zone had confused him somewhat. Despite the confusion he seemed confident of being in perfect shape for the fight, the biggest fifght of his life by far.
The challenger stated that he had watched footage of Yamanaka and accepted that the champion was the best Bantamweight on the planet, but that he had travelled to with the intention of of defeating the champion, and that he had a variety of weapons to use on Yamanaka, including his left hook which he seemed to feel was his best weapon.
Although Carlson did partake in a public work out, it was a limited one with the Mexican mainly stretching and going through some various punching exercises, rather than any sparring. It was a work out that seemed to see Carlson holding his cards close to his chest.
