Earlier this week we reported that the bookies in the UK were taking bets on the upcomign WBO Super Flyweight title fight between Naoya Inoue (11-0, 9) [井上 尚弥] and former 2-time WBA champion Kohei Kono (32-9-1, 13) [河野 公平]. As we reported back then Inoue is the betting favourite, and in fact the "Monster" is just as much of a favourite as he was when we first reported the odds with bookies pricing him at between 1/14 and 1/20.
Surprisingly since we first reported the odds there has been a widening in the price of a Kono win, with the best odds now available on the upset being around 15/1, a notable increase from the 25/2 that was available earlier in the week.
Thankfully since our first look at the odds we have seen another market open up on the bout, though sadly it is only one other market.
That is the over/under on the rounds with one bookie stinking the market at over of under 7.5rounds, an interesting market given that neither man has been been stopped.
For those fancing the bout to go over the 7.5 rounds the odds have been set at 2/5, nice odds if you think the "Tough Boy" can live up to his name and cope with the "Monster's" speed and power. If however you expect to see Inoue make a statement, or expect Kono to shock the world and over-come the monster, then odds of 7/4 on the bout to go under 7.5 rounds could be very attractive.
Sadly no other markets, such as method of victory, have been made available at the time of writing.
