Japanese fans at the Korakuen Hall appear set for a genuine treat tomorrow as OPBF Flyweight champion Ardin Diale (31-9-3, 15) defends his title against all-action Japanese fighter Daigo Higa (9-0, 9) [比嘉 大吾], in what is genuinely one of the most mouth watering match ups we've seen this year.
Today those two fighters weighed in for their bout and both made weight.
On the scales the champion was well under the divisional limit, coming in at 111.55lbs. That weight is slightly lighter than he was last time out but slightlier heavier than he was when he won the title back in December. Given that he is regularly between 111lbs and 112lbs however the weight is unlikely to have been an issue for the champion, who seemed very confident.
The challenger came in marginally heavier, weighing in at 111.77lbs. Incidentally this was a career low weigh for Higa who has fought as high as 115lbs. Whilst that may suggest he has over trained we suspect it's a case of just being fully prepared for the most significant bout of his young career.
