The word from Thailand is that IBF Flyweight champion Amnat Ruenroeng (13-0, 5) won't be in action again until Autumn at the earliest.
From what we under-stand the champion has been ordered by the IBF to make a mandatory defence next. This means he will have to wait until June to organise his next fight his mandatory challenger to be decided on June 19th when unbeaten Filipino Froilan Saludar (19-0-1, 12) battles former world amateur champion McWilliams Arroyo (14-1, 12).
Originally we had heard that Saludar/Arroyo would be fought at the end of May though the June 19th date is one that seems to make more sense, even if the IBF don't have that bout listed yet.
The Saludar/Arroyo bout is set to take place in Bayamon in Puerto Rico. This will not only be the toughest test so far for Saludar but will also be his first bout outside of his native Philippines and his first appearance on US TV with Fox Sports 1 in the set to show the contest.
On paper the winner against Amnat would be a great fight and we can't really complain if Amnat is out of the month until October or November with this mandatory defence looming over him.
