Earlier today we reported that Ohashi gym held a press conference featuring IBF Light Flyweight champion Akira Yaegashi (25-5, 13) [八重樫 東]. That press conference was then followed by a public work out with Yaegashi talking about his future and about his condition.
The fighter knows hiw next bout will be against Filipino fighter Milan Melindo (35-2, 12), with a May date being eyed by Ohashi. It seems that Yaegashi is glad to know who he is fighting in advance, and is already set to create a gameplan to face the Filipino with the plan being to begin specialised sparring for Melindo in the very near future.
Yaegashi also seemed glad to report that there was no niggling injuries following his December win over Samartlek Kokietgym, meaning that there was no major break from training. He returned today, around 4 weeks after his last fight, and looked to still be in good shape.
As for the work out, Yaegashi looked sharp whilst going through various exercises but is fully aware that he has a lot of work to do to be ready for Melindo and will begin research on the Filipino in the coming days.
