On Friday in Australia fans will see tough Filipino Adones Aguelo (24-11-2, 16) battle exciting Australian Will Tomlinson (23-2-1, 13). On paper it's a mismatch though in reality it promises to be a thoroughly engaging contest between who men who should make for a very exciting and interesting bout.
The bookies have seemingly priced this one on the records of the two men and have made Tomlinson a 1/16 favourite to defeat the Filipino who has been priced at a very tasty looking 10/1 as the under-dog. Again looking at the records of the two men those odds do make complete sense, on paper this will be a one sided win for Tomlinson. The reality however is that the records don't tell us all we need to know for this one.
Tomlinson has a relatively solid record with his best wins coming against the likes of Malcolm Klassen, Irving Berry and Rey Labao, who are all good but not exceptional fighters. Notably he has lost 2 of his last 4, including a pain 8 round TKO loss last time out to Francisco Vargas, a loss that really saw take a beating in a terrible style match up for the Australian. On the other hand Aguelo has given really good tests to the likes of Sergio Thompson, Nery Saguilan and Joe Brunker.
We're not saying that Aguelo will win here, but we do see value in Aguelo coming in to this bout.
