On thing we've missed the last year or two have been the NTV shows under the "The Real: World Premium Boxing" shows, which essentially finished when Shinsuke Yamanaka's long reign as the WBC Bantamweight champion ended. In the summer of 2013 we had the 18th edition of the series, and it was a packed one with Yamanaka, Akira Yaegashi and Hozumi Hasegawa all in action. The poster gives off a premium vibe, a super show feel, and it's the sort of poster that sells a show. Solid stuff, even if there is a little bit too much text for our liking.
One thing we really miss now a days are the shows under "The Real: World Boxing Premium" banners, which were the world title shows on NTV generally headlines by either Hozumi Hasegawa or Shinsuke Yamanaka. Here we have the poster from "The Real: World Boxing Premium Vol 17" from 2013. It was a stacked card with a lot of talent on it, and the poster really sold the star power of the event. This was deep, it was stacked and it was very well sold.
On August 15th we'll see The Real: World Boxing Premium Vol 26, headlined by long term WBC Bantamweight champion Shinsuke Yamanaka defending his title against Luis Nery. The bout is a great contest and the poster is a great one, which almost has a feeling that we have a challenger chasing a champion, adding the over-all feel of the bout, and selling the narrative many have for the contest. Notably though the poster isn't really pushing the fact that this will be Yamanaka's 13th world title defense, as he looks to tie a Japanese national record. Something that could have added a tiny bit extra to this card.
Every major fight needs good promotional posters. This part of AsianBoxing will try and feature some of those posters.
