On December 20th we'll see IBF Flyweight champion Moruti Mthalane defending his title as he takes on Filipino challenger Jayson Mama in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, the hometown of Mthalane. Sadly for such a big event in Mthalane's career this promotional image just feels under-whelming, and a bit dull. It's more a TV insert image than a fully fledged poster, and we really hope that a proper event poster will be made available closer to fight time.
On May 13th fight fans in the UK will see Kal Yafai defending his WBA Super Flyweight title against Japanese challenger Suguru Muranaka, with the Japanese fighter looking to become the first ever fighter from the Land of the Rising Sun to claim a world title in Europe. The poster sells the show on the main even, and also feature a couple of local fighters from the under-card, in what is an appealing poster.
This coming Saturday is an insanely busy day in the Asian boxing world with so many bouts that it's hard to keep track of what's on where. For many fans however the highlight of the weekend is in Chicago, USA where Warriors Boxing put on the "The Homecoming card" which is a solid one in the US with several bouts of note on the international scene. Two of those bouts however feature Asian brothers, Koki Kameda and Tomoki Kameda.
Of the two Kameda's only one is featured on the poster, Tomoki who will be defending his WBO Bantamweight title against Alejandro Hernandez. Tomoki and Hernandez, both featured on the right of the poster, are two of four fighters on the poster along with US based Pole Andrezj Fonfara and Frenchman Doudou Ngumbu, who will be fighting each other.
As a poster it's a simple design though one that really confuses us with it's name of the home coming, which we suspect is due to Fonfara. The show is a real mix of fighters and cultures and that would have been a much better concept to have played off than "The Homecoming", a real missed opportunity.

Every major fight needs good promotional posters. This part of AsianBoxing will try and feature some of those posters.
