February 21st 2021-Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan Shunpei Kubo (6-1-1, 4) vs Taichi Sugimoto (6-0-1, 1) At the recent All Japan Rookie of the Year final we had an interesting match up at Super Flyweight as the once beaten Shunpei Kubo [久保 春平] battled against the unbeaten Taichi Sugimoto [杉本 太一] in a scheduled 5 rounder.

February 21st 2021-Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan Akira Hoshuyama (4-0, 2) vs Yasuhiro Kanzaki (6-1, 2) At the 67th All Japan Rookie of the Year finals we had some thrilling bouts. Among the best of those was the Flyweight bout, which pitted the unbeaten Akira Hoshuyama [宝珠山 晃] against Yasuhiro Kanzaki [神崎 靖浩]. This was a truly brilliant bout, with drama, action and controversy all rolled into a brilliant 5 rounder! February 21st 2021-Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan Ryota Karimata (5-0, 3) vs Hyogo Kimura (6-1-1, 1) This past Sunday we saw the finals of the 67 All Japan Rookie of the Year. In the Light Flyweight bout we saw a brilliant all action bout as the unbeaten Ryota Karimata [狩俣 綾汰] took on the once beaten Hyogo Kimura [木村 彪吾]. This ended up being a genuinely spectacular battle between two men who were both willing to go to war for 5 thrilling rounds. February 21st 2021-Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan Ren Kojima (5-1-2) vs Ryo Sasaki (5-2, 2) This past Sunday we saw the All Japan Rookie of the Year finals. To decide the Minimumweight Rookie of the Year we saw Ren Kojima [小島 蓮] clash with Ryo Sasaki [佐々木 凌] in a very interesting looking 5 round match up. September 6th 1979-City Gymnasium, Hachinohe, Aomori, Japan Yukio Segawa (8-1, 7) vs Ricardo Cardona (19-4-1, 10) In September 1979 Japan's Yukio Segawa took on WBA Super Bantamweight champion Ricardo Cardona, who was looking for his 4th defense in 16 months. January 16th 2004-Culture Hall, Muju, South Korea Taek Min Kim (1-0, 1) vs Se Il Lee (0-1) On January 14th 2004 Taek Min Kim made his professional debut, just 2 days later he was back in the ring for his second bout, as part of the Korean Rookie of the Year. Here he was up against Se Il Lee. October 8th 2019-Fizkul'turno-Sportivnyy Kompleks, Ulan-Ude, Russia Mijgona Samadova vs Karris Artingstall Back at the 2019 Women's World Championships in Russia fight fans saw Tajik fighter Mijgona Samadova take on England's Karris Artingstall in a bout at 57KG's. January 13 1996-Incheon, South Korea In Jin Chi (10-1, 4) vs Alexander Pak (7-1, 4) In early 1996 Korean tough guy In Jin Chi [지인진], who was then world ranked by the WBC, took on WBA ranked world ranked Russian Alexander Pak. With the two men clashing in Incheon, south Korea. February 13th 2021-2nd Floor, Mega Mart Burgos Poblacion Norte, Paniqui, Tarlac, Philippines Lorenz Ladrada (7-1-1, 2) vs Remon Basas (5-4, 4) Earlier this month Filipino hopeful Lorenz Ladrada fought in his 10th professional contest, as he took on fellow Filipino Remon Basas on a show in Tarlac. This was a low key 6 rounder, but, at least on paper, a solid step up in class for Ladrada. February 11th 2021-Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan Ryo Sagawa (10-1, 5) vs Hinata Maruta (10-1-1, 8) Just over a week ago Japanese fight fans at Korakuen Hall had the chance to see Japanese Featherweight champion Ryo Sagawa [佐川遼] face off with his mandatory challenger Hinata Maruta [丸田陽七太] in much anticipated, and much delayed, Champion Carnival bout. The contest was originally planned for early 2020 before Covid19 postponed the bout, and forced it to be delayed by almost a full year. Despite the delay the bout was one fans had been looking forward to. Notably the bout was supposed to be shown a few days after taking place, on tape delay, however the broadcast was delayed by almost a week due to an earthquake that struck Japan just hours before the bout was originally supposed to be aired. |
