February 27th 2021-Suamlum Night Bazaar, Ratchadaphisek, Bangkok, Thailand Amnat Ruenroeng (21-4, 6) vs Arnon Yupang (6-1, 3) This past Saturday in Thailand we saw former IBF Flyweight king Amnat Ruenroeng take on promising Thai youngster Arnon Yupang in a bout for the WBA Asia South Featherweight. Notably this bout was part of the first televised professional boxing show in Thailand in 2021, and took part on a TL Promoted "The Fighter" show, which was aired on Thairath.

February 27th 2021-Bula Gym, General Santos City, Cotabato del Sur, Philippines Pedro Taduran (14-2-1, 11) vs Rene Mark Cuarto (18-2-2, 11) This past Saturday we had action from General Santos City as IBF Minimumweight champion Pedro Taduran took on fellow Filipino fighter Rene Mark Cuarto. Coming in to this Taduran was seeking his second defense of the title, whilst Cuarto was competing in his first bout at world title level. December 27th 1981-Munhwa Gymnasium, Seoul, South Korea In Chul Baek (14-0, 14) vs Sang Ho Lee (2-3-2, 2) Future world champion In Chul Baek [백인철] was one of the Korean stars of the 1980's. Before reaching world level he was an OPBF champion. In his first OPBF title bout he took on Sang Ho Lee [이상호] in a bout for the vacant OPBF Light Middleweight title. February 27th 2021-Tynyshpayev Academy of Transport and Communications, Almaty, Kazakhstan Kamshybek Kunkabayev (2-0, 2) vs Server Emurlaev (23-1, 8) Earlier today in Almaty unbeaten Kazakh hopeful Kamshybek Kunkabayev [Камшыбек Кункабаев] took part in his first title bout, as he faced Server Emurlaiev for the vacant WBO Asia Pacific Cruiserweight title. February 27th 2021-Sofia, Bulgaria Bobousmon Boturov Vs Ievgenii Barabanov Earlier today, at the 2021 Strandja Memorial Final, fight fans saw Uzbek standout Bobousmon Boturov battle against Ukrainian Ievgenii Barabanov, with the two men trading blows for the gold medal at 69KG's. February 27th 2021-Sofia, Bulgaria Bakhodir Jalolov Vs Tsotne Rogava Earlier today at the 2021 Strandja Memorial Final fans saw a Super Heavyweight clash between Uzbek giant Bakhodir Jalolov and Ukrainian fighter Tsotne Rogava. April 26th 2012-Kowloon Bay International Trade and Exhibition Centre, Hong Kong S.A.R., China Fernando Lumacad (25-3-3, 10) vs Glenn Suminguit (12-1, 7) Way back in April 2012 Filipino fighters Fernando Lumacad and Glenn Suminguit clashed in Hong Kong, with the two men battle for the lightly regarded UBO Bantamweight title. This was one of the main bouts of a DEF Promotions show, which also featured a then promising Rex Tso, who was quickly becoming the face of boxing in Hong Kong. September 22nd 2011-Kowloon Bay International Trade and Exhibition Centre, Hong Kong S.A.R., China Randy Megrino (11-10-2, 7) vs Lertsila Singmanasak (6-7, 3) In September 2011 DEF Promotions put on a card in Hong Kong. One of the bouts on that card saw Filipino Randy Megrino take on Thailand's Lertsila Singmanasak. This was a Featherweight bout scheduled for 6 rounds and, on paper at least, it looked a relatively even match up. May 28th 1989-Hongkuk Gymnasium, Yeosu, South Korea Young Kil Jung (26-4-2, 18) vs Seung Tae Chang (2-0, 1) Following his loss to Lloyd Honeyghan in a WBC Welterweight title bout in 1988 Korean fighter Young Kil Jung [정영길] began a climb towards a second world title fight. Before he got that show, which came in September 1989 against Marlon Starling, Jung fought two bouts on the domestic level. One of those saw him take on professional novice Seung Tae Chang [장승태]. March 1st 1997-Chungju, South Korea Bong Chul Kim (30-1-3, 21) vs Torrance Brown (1-1) In March 1997 Korean fighter Bong Chul Kim [김봉철] took part in his 35th professional bout, as he clashed with American novice Torrance Brown in Chungju, South Korea. Aged 27 at this point in time, few would has assumed that Kim would fight just two more times before ending his career. Interestingly this was Brown's second bout with a Korean fighter, having beaten Jun Min Suh in what seems to have been his debut bout. |
