This bout, for those interested was a semi-final in the Rookie of the Year tournament. The bout, which was streamed live through the SporttimeKZ YouTube channel, is a short one, but maybe a chance to get a look at a promising Kazakh hopeful. September 9th 2016-Traktor Sport Palace, Chelyabinsk, Russia Shavkatdzhon Rakhimov (5-0, 3) vs Farkhod Oripov (11-12-1, 5) In September 2016 the then 22 year old Shavkatdzhon Rakhimov [Шавкатджон Рахимов], a Tajik fighter based in Russia, took on journeyman Farkhod Oripov. Interestingly this was Rakhimov's first bout after missing out on a place at the 2016 Rio Olympics. February 18th 2017-Traktor Sport Palace, Chelyabinsk, Russia Shavkatdzhon Rakhimov (8-0, 6) vs Rogelio Jun Doliguez (21-3-2, 15) In early 2017 unbeaten Tajik born Russian based hopeful Shavkatdzhon Rakhimov [Шавкатджон Рахимов] battled against experienced Filipino Rogelio Jun Doliguez, in a bout that took place in Chelyabinsk, Russia. On paper this was a very credible step up in class for Rakhimov, and was his third straight bout against a Filipino foe. February 10th 2018-DIVS, Ekaterinburg, Russia Shavkatdzhon Rakhimov (11-0, 8) vs Malcolm Klassen (33-7-2, 17) In February 2018 rising Tajik born Russian based puncher Shavkatdzhon Rakhimov [Шавкатджон Рахимов] took a huge step up on class as he took on South African veteran Malcolm Klassen, a former IBF Super Featherweight world champion. Coming in to this Rakhimov was not just risking his unbeaten record but also his IBO title, which he had won some 5 months earlier against Emanuel Lopez of Mexico. |
