March 16th 2024-Swiss Grand Hotel, Seoul Jae Wook Jung (2-1, 1) vs Joon Young Park (0-1) Earlier this month Seoul played host to a debutant clash between Jae Wook Jun and Joon Young Park, who clashed in a 4 rounder at Lightweight. The 19 year old Jung had debuted in February 2023 and was his 4th bout in a little over a year. As for Park, this was his first bout since being stopped in his debut in November 2023. March 24th 2024-Gwanakgu Hall, Seoul Yoon Tak (4-0, 4) Vs Hyung Shin Chae (4-1, 1) This past weekend fight fans in Seoul had the chance to see a new KBM champion being crowned at 140lbs as the unbeaten and hard hitting Yoon Tak [탁윤] clashed with the once beaten Hyung Shin Chae [채형신]. The bout, scheduled for 10 rounds, was expected to be a very competitive and interesting bout, pitting the power of Tak, who had notably stopped Japan's Kenshin Kidoguchi last October, against the skills of Chae. As with many bouts we see from Korea, this was highly entertaining, with blood spilled, bombs thrown, and some huge shots landed. March 24th 2024-Gwanakgu Hall, Seoul Dae Hoon Kim (2-0, 1) vs Gurpal Singh (1-4) This past weekend Korean prospect Dae Hoon Kim took part in his first scheduled 6 rounder, as he clashed with limited Indian fighter Gurpal Singh in Seoul. The promising Kim had debuted in Japan, in 2022, and had notched his first win at home a few months later, but had sadly been out of the ring for over a year coming into this bout. As for Singh this was actually his 4th bout in Korea, though he had been stopped in the previous 3 and had shown little in the way of actually being a real test, even at the lowest levels of the Korean domestic scene. March 24th 2024-Gwanakgu Hall, Seoul Hyun Jin Moon (4-0-1, 4) vs Eun Sang Han (2-0) This past weekend fight fans saw the hard hitting and unbeaten Hyun Jin Moon return to the ring for the first time since 2019, as he took on fellow unbeaten Eun Sang Han in a bout scheduled for 6 rounds in Seoul. The hard hitting Moon had debuted in 2018 and had his first 5 bouts in around 15 months, before his lengthy break from the sport. As for Han this was his third bout in 11 months, with him only debuting last April. March 24th 2024-Gwanakgu Hall, Seoul Jargal Otgonjargal (0-0) vs Baljeet Singh (2-2) This past weekend fight fans had the chance to see former Mongolian amateur standout Jargal Otgonjargal make his professional debut, as he took on Indian fighter Baljeet Singh in Seoul, in a scheduled 6 rounder. Sadly, at the age of 33, Otgonjargal is probably too old to make a major impact on the professional ranks, but given his extensive amateur background, and clear ability, there is a chance we could see him mixing in and around the Oriental title scene, if his team are willing to fast track him. On this performance there is a lot to like about him, though in fairness Singh was more of a sacrificial lamb than a real test the hard hitting Mongolian. March 24th 2024 - Gwanakgu Hall, Seoul Jin Ha Kim (0-0) vs Byung Do Park (0-0) This past weekend Korean fighters Jin Ha Kim and Byung Do Park clashed in a scheduled 4 rounder at Light Heavyweight, a division that really isn't deep in Asia. As with many all novice bouts their is something of a lack of natural ability and trained skills, especially defensively, but that left the door open for us to see a genuinely brutal and frightening KO that is well worth watching the fight to see. March 24th 2024- Gwanakgu Hall, Seoul Shin Jae Kang (0-0) vs Sung Nam Lim (0-0) This past weekend in Seoul fight fans saw an all debutant 4 rounder as Shin Jae Kang and Sung Nam Lim clashed in a bout at a contracted 73KG's (161lbs). As with many novice bouts in Korea there was a lack of boxing IQ here but there was no lack of heart or action, as the two fighters each dug deep looking to win, and begin their career with a 1 in the W column. March 24th 2024-Gwanakgu Hall, Seoul Ju Yeong Jeong (2-0-1, 1) vs Jong Hyun Choi (1-1, 1) This past weekend we got an interesting bout at 154lbs in South Korea as the unbeaten Ju Yeong Jeong clashed with Jong Hyun Choi in a scheduled 4 rounder. The bout saw both men looking for a victory, with some bombs thrown by both fighters. Although not an all out intense war, like we regularly see in South Korea, this bout had a sense of a fight that was tense, with both feeling they had the power to take the other out, but also knew they could be taken out at any moment. March 24th 2024-Gwanakgu Hall, Seoul Do Kyum Kim (0-1) vs Joo Eun Lee (0-0) One thing Korean boxing has given us over the years is thrilling action fighters, and all action fights. We got one such fight this past weekend as the win-less Do Kyum Kim clashed with debuting Joo Eun Lee in Seoul, in a 4 round Bantamweight clash. The bout lacked in terms of technical skills and and ring IQ but made up for it it in intensity, exchanges and brutal back and forth action, giving fans a genuine treat |
