January 31st 2015- Pattaya Boxing World, Pattaya, Thailand Samartlek Kokietgym (17-5, 5) Vs Richie Behec (2-0-1, 1) Last year we saw Thailand's Samartlek Kokietgym come up short against the then WBC Light Flyweight champion Naoya Inoue. On his return to the ring several months later Samartlek battled a different unbeaten fighter, Filipino Richie Behec, a man who was 2-0 in Thailand where he had already fought twice this year. January 30th 2015- Chom Thong District Office, Bangkok, Thailand Kongfah CP Freshmart (10-0, 5)* vs Fahpikard Twins Gym (2-7) Last year we saw Kongfah CP Freshmart score one of the prettiest KO's in recent memory as he stopped Sangthong Chor Pakdee in a manner that would have been perfect for Hollywood. In his first fight of 2015 Kongfah battled against Fahpikard Twins Gym in what looked like a mismatch to keep the unbeaten prospect busy more than anything else. *We believe Kongfah is uncredited by boxrec for a fight he had in December 2014 against an "unknown" opponent, if, like boxrec, you missed that one it ended in Brutal fashion from the unbeaten Thai and is well worth a watch. (Video courtesy of TKO.in.th) December 26th 2014- 11th Inf Reg, Bangkok, Thailand Kongfah CP Freshmart (9-0, 4) Vs ??? In the past we've always tried to know the names of both fighters involved in a bout. Sadly for the first time we've had to just out a fighter in as "unknown" due to the unfortunate fact that we don't know who one of the fighters is. We're sorry for this and if anyone can give us details about the opponent we will be happy to update this. Thankfully we do know the other fighter, the exciting and much touted Thai prospect Kongfah CP Freshmart who caught our eye in August when he scored a beautiful KO against Sangthong Chor Pakdee. This bout came several months after that one as Kongfah managed to fit in a 8th bout for the year. (Video courtesy of TKO.in.th) January 30th 2015- Chom Thong District Office, Bangkok, Thailand Petch Sor Chitpattana (28-0, 18) Vs Hou Tin Long (1-0) Whilst we love watching the Thai prospects develop we don't enjoy just how long it takes some of them to fight opponents with pulses. One example of a Thai taking his time is 21 year old Petch Sor Chitpattana who has claimed 3 WBC Youth titles but really hasn't faced a test in almost 30 bouts. In his most recent bout Petch took on Chinese novice Hou Tin Long, who looked several divisions smaller than Petch and was obviously lacking in experience. (Video courtesy of tko.in.th) January 30th 2015- Chom Thong District Office, Bangkok, Thailand Palangpol CP Freshmart (6-1, 4) Vs Donny Mabao (21-23-1, 4) Thailand's Palangpol CP Freshmart was earmarked as a fast rising prospect from the minute he decided to take boxing seriously. The fact Palangpol, a former Muay Thai great, is expected to fight for titles has been why he has been matched harder than most prospects and in just his 8th professional bout he took on tough Filipino veteran Donny Mabao, who took Ryuji Hara close in a very competitive bout last year. (Video courtesy of tko.in.th) March 25th 2012- Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan Warlito Parrenas (16-5, 14) Vs Tomoya Kaneshiro (19-5-2, 8) Everyone loves watching a slugger and there are few as exciting as Filipino Super Flyweight hopeful Warlito Parrenas who really made a name for himself when he was plying his trade in Japan with his all action style. One of his final bouts in Japan saw him take on Tomoya Kaneshiro, a former Japanese "interim" title challenger and a man who holds a very notable win over Suguru Muranaka. (Huge thanks to Nick Santiago for this video) September 18th 2011- Yano Fitness Center, Zama, Kanagawa, Japan Warlito Parrenas (14-5, 12) Vs Koji Itagaki (12-5-1, 5) In February fans in the UK and Ireland will have the chance to see Filipino slugger Warlito Parrenas live. For those wanting to know what he's about it's well worth watching some of his bouts that took place in Japan when he was fighting under various names including the brilliant "WARS Katsumata". One of those bouts from Japan saw him battling against Japan's very own Koji Itagaki. (Video courtesy of Hiroshi Katsumata) January 27th 2015- Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan Kazunori Yorimasa (0-0) Vs Hayato Sakuma (0-0) It can often be pretty cool to see an all debutant bout being fought in front of a small card of the hardcore and most dedicated of fans. Sadly such fights often go without being recorded and and are memories only for those in the venue. Thankfully however we have managed to get the footage of the recent all debutant clash between Kazunori Yorimasa and Hayato Sakuma which took place on Dangan 119. We'll also be honest and say we are hoping to see much more of the winner in the future (Video courtesy of shiotani tomoyuki) December 26th 2010- Angono Sports Complex (Angono Municipal Gym), Barangay Mahabang , Angono, Rizal, Philippines Jomar Fajardo (2-2, 1) Vs Leonardo Talisic (1-5-1, 1) In 2014 the unknown Jomar Fajardo caught our attention when he battled to a draw with former unified Minimumweight champion Francisco Rodriguez Jr in a thriller. Prior to that Fajardo was unknown on the international stage though there was a little bit of video of him available, notably this fight with Leonardo Talisic. (Video courtesy of the brilliant Jerome Naldoza) October 4th 2003- Kokugikan, Tokyo, Japan Masakazu Satake (18-2-4, 11) vs Richard Reina (10-0, 9) A forgotten name in Japanese boxing is that of former OPBF Light Welterweight champion Masakazu Satake who came very close to a world title fight at the turn of the century. One of Satake's last fights saw him fighting the then unbeaten Richard Reina, a Venezuelan with an imposing KO record who had impressed in his Japanese debut against Dindo Castanares.
